Week 4: Online learning course with an NHS Tutor
Recieve a Domiciliary Care Certificate! This includes:
- A 5 Day course, taught via Zoom by an NHS Expert Tutor
- Overview of how a General Practice Operates, Knowledge of Care Quality Commission (CQC)
- Introduction to the General Practice Clinical Systems (Part 1): How to book and cancel appointments, answer patient queries over the telephone, sign post patients appropriately, deal with home visit requests.
- Introduction to the General Practice Clinical Systems (Part 2) and Knowledge of the workflow: Manage patient referrals, blood tests, scanning, sort incoming and outgoing post, set up and register new registrations.
- Preparing for an interview in General Practice, understand career pathways, knowledge of various industry specific job portals, reflection covering what has been learnt and how to take this forward to interview and apply for jobs in the sector.
Additional Safeguarding General Practice Certificate qualification:
- All learners will have the opportunity to Interview via Zoom. Learners may be invited for a second in-person interview at a GP surgery.
- On completion of the course, learners will be invited to submit their CVs to a GP practice. Please note that some interviews may be taken on the Monday or Tuesday of the following week.
- Learners will be registered on an e-learning training portal, allowing access to various industries recognised and accredited e-learning modules which are pre-requisites for a career in the healthcare sector.
- Learners will be supported to complete 2-3 modules every day as self-study.
- After completion of the course, learners will have completed 12 e-courses and will receive the accredited certificates if attained.
- Each module takes around 20-30 mins to complete, and the content will be fully covered during the zoom class.
How will I access the course?
The course will be delivered via Zoom and will run Monday to Friday. You can access the course via a computer, tablet or smart phone that has a camera and microphone. You will be required to complete a suite of industry recognised and accredited e-learning courses during the duration of the course.
Eligibility
To join a course, you will need to be over 19 years’ old, unemployed and in receipt of benefit (JSA, ESA, Income Support or Universal Credit)
- In order to complete all enrolment forms and check eligibility criteria, we need a proof of benefits and an ID, such as valid passport (driving licence or provisional driving licence will only be accepted together with a UK birth certificate).
- If not British, we require a resident card/permit issued from 2019 or before as a proof of living in the UK lawfully for more than 3 years.
- If you are a member of the EU, we require a picture of your passport, pre-settled or settled status shared code.
- Learners will also need to complete a mandatory Maths & English online assessment.
Career path and progression
- Run a shared practise or specialise in an area like sports medicine, diabetes or children’s health.
- Move into medical work in hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, the police or the prison service.
- Work overseas or in medicine for the Army, Royal Air Force or Royal Navy.
- Teach students training to be GPs or go into clinical research.
- Become a member of a local medical committee or clinical consultation group to get involved in local health issues.
