he Approved Prior Learning Programme (APL) for domestic natural gas is designed to allow new entrants to the gas industry to progress through the ACS nationally accredited certification scheme and become a Domestic Gas Engineer. Once you have successfully completed the APL course you will be able to apply for your own gas safe registration or work under someone else’s gas safe registration.

How long will this course take me to complete?

15 days college based training (1 day per week)

4 weeks to complete a portfolio of evidence

3 further days college based preparation

2 days of assessment

How much will the course cost?

APL Guild of Gas (CCN1, CENWAT,CKR1, HTR1 and CPA1) = £3200

Extra elements are charged at £110 per element (see below)

CENWAT – Boilers and Water Heaters
HTR1 – Gas Fires
CKR1 – Cookers
MET1 – Meters
CPA1 – Combustion Performance Analysis (required for CENWAT and/or HTR1)
