No matter how prepared you are for interviews, and how polished your CV is, finding the perfect fit can take time. Adding to that the potential pressure of being out of work and not bringing in a regular income, and the process can seem even more stressful.

How can it help?
The Job Centre can help in many ways by offering personalised support and advice while you’re searching for a job. They have advisers that will provide information about jobs in your area, any apprenticeships or training schemes available that may suit your career plans. They also have a universal Job match service that can help you search for new positions and make your CV visible to employers.
It is also the place where you will be able to find out about social security benefits that are available to help make your job search easier. They also can help you with other advice services if you find your self needing extra support with housing, wellbeing or welfare issues.

How can you get started?
The easiest way to see what your local Jobcentre Plus can offer is by getting in touch with them. Calling your local office and booking an appointment to speak to an adviser about your job searching. During this an appointment they’ll interview you about your employment history and learn more about what it is you are looking for.
During this first interview they will also be able to talk to you about how to claim benefits such as JSA or any other benefits that can ease the financial burden while you are job hunting.

You can use a search engine like google to find out where you nearest job centre location is. You can as call the Jobcentre Plus phone line on 0445 696 9234. They are open Monday to Friday 8am until 6pm. You can also use the governments local office search tool: https://find-your-nearest-jobcentre.dwp.gov.uk/search.php to find the address or email of your Jobcentre Plus office.
